Description:
How can literature and art help us understand each other’s inner worlds? This workshop will explore close reading as a way of empathetically imagining the complex, intersectional identities of others. We will unpack various literary and art pieces including Scarborough by Catherine Hernandez. We will also create a collaborative art piece that will be displayed in Duncan MacArthur Hall. Free copies of Scarborough will be available for Queen’s students. This workshop is part of the Queen’s Reads program and the Faculty of Education’s Indigeneity, Inclusion, and Equity Series. Students, staff, and faculty are eligible to receive a Certificate of Participation after attending five IIE workshops/lectures.
