    Description:

Title: “Towards the water resource recovery facility, ground breaking technologies and potential application in the French context”

    Refreshments will be provided

Abstract: Developing the wastewater treatment plant of the future led to an increasing interest in shifting from energy consuming activated sludge processes to Water Resource Recovery Facility towards energy neutral or even energy positive plants. One way to advance toward energy-positive wastewater treatment is to maximize the capture of organic matter further valorized by anaerobic digestion rather than oxidation or extensive bioconversion processes. Another is to consider low energy technologies applied in a decentralized context with water pollution segregation options.

Considering the French context the aim of this talk is to see, based on technology readiness level, what reasonable options are at short, middle and long terms.

Bio: Florent Chazarenc is a Ph.D and Engineer in environmental engineering. He is working as a senior Researcher (Director of Research) and group leader at Irstea in the research unit REVERSAAL (Lyon-France). Irstea is a French national research organization, which works on major issues of a responsible agriculture and territories sustainable planning including for water management and related risks. REVERSAAL aims at developing researches to reduce, reuse, and recycle resources from wastewater.
