Intermediate Writing in Poetry: Poetry and Culture

This course will advance the practice of poetry through guided writing prompts, group seminars and workshop exercises and study. Students will learn how to receive and provide generative and respectful feedback of each other’s writing. Students will write, expand and produce multiple revisions of their own poetry. By the end of this course, students will have learned different approaches to writing poetry, participated in writing workshops, led seminars, and studied contemporary works of published poetry. Students will come away with a revised small collection of poetry. This is not an introductory course.
